Even Minions Can Have Heterochromia Iridis

Look out for the huggable, lovable, hilarious Bob in the new Minions (2015) movie. Bob is a short, bald minion who often carries around a Teddy Bear named Tim. He finds happiness and love in all things. But what makes him a true standout character – and extra adorable – is the fact that he has two different colored irises: the left one is green and the right one is brown. It’s a unique feature that enhances his personality and helps endear the audience even more to his character.

Bob and his pals Kevin and Stuart set out on the important mission to find a new “boss” for their clan. They are nothing if they don’t have a boss to serve. Kevin recruits his friends to rescue their fellow minions from a sad state of listlessness. The three venture out into the freezing, arctic landscape as a last resort.

A whirlwind of hijinks and action adventure ensues after they finally make contact with Scarlett Overkill, their new boss. Overkill’s master plan for the boys to steal the crown backfires. In a crazy turn of events, Bob is crowned King of England instead. Even the queen cannot resist his charm.

Fun Fact: Heterochromia Iridis is when a person has two different colored irises. Bob has complete heterochromia, where one iris is a completely different color from the other. In this respect, he joins the likes of Mila Kunis and Dan Aykroyd who, like him, are celebrities with two different colored irises. Their stories were recently highlighted in our Celebrity Eye Facts Blog. If just part of an iris is different to the remainder of the eye, this is known as partial or sectoral heterochromia.
