At Del Negro & Senft Eye Associates, functional and cosmetic eyelid surgery are performed by Marina Glatman, MD. Dr. Glatman will evaluate each case individually and customize correction accordingly.
A surgical evaluation for droopy eyelids with Dr. Glatman will include an eye exam; visual field testing to determine if a patient’s field of vision is being compromised by sagging lids; and pre-operative photographs. This will determine what surgical intervention is necessary to correct any diagnosed visual impairment or to improve and restore one’s youthful appearance due to sagging lids or excess skin.
Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure where extra skin and/or muscle and fat in the eyelids is removed in order to improve appearance and/or visual function. This procedure is used in cases where the upper eyelids sag and droop, resulting in eyelid heaviness, fatigue, eyestrain, and/or limitation of peripheral vision.

Ptosis is a condition that occurs when one or both upper eyelids droop and the edge of the upper eyelid falls towards or over the pupil. Ptosis is usually caused by stretching or thinning of the muscle that raises the eyelid. This leads to symptoms of eyelid and forehead muscle fatigue, eyelid heaviness, and/or limitation of peripheral vision. Ptosis surgery corrects vision loss due to droopy eyelids by tightening the stretched eyelid muscle.

Ectropion is a condition where the lower lid turns away from the eye causing irritation by not holding the tears against the eye. Ectropion surgery involves tightening the muscles of the eyelid and its attachment to restore the eyelid to its more normal position.
